“The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.” – Barack Obama
Progression of Skills in Geography
Geography Intent, Implementation & Impact
At RNSF, we aim to inspire our children to develop a natural curiosity and wonder of the world around them. Children will be equipped with geographical skills needed for them to discover great things through exploring places, people and natural and human environments.
Through each unit, children will learn important skills of map reading, describing landscapes and geographical enquiry as we encourage children to create their own questions. We want our children to flourish as geographers, applying their learnt skills in the real world on regular local walks and trips further afield.
