London, Baby

Great fun was had last Monday as 7 children travelled to London on the train to support Maddie (yr 3) as she performed in the Poetry By Heart finals at The Globe Theatre in London. She looked very small on the huge stage but her voice rang out with confidence as she performed the poem. Her family were also there and we were all very proud of her representing our little school. We were the only school from Somerset in the final, and pretty much the South- West as a whole. After the performance we enjoyed exploring the Millennium Bridge and the Tate Modern. We braved the tube and then caught our train back to Westbury. The children’s behaviour was excellent and they listened carefully to a range of poems performed by children from around the Country. We have been extremely lucky to have a pupil in the final for the last two years, out of 11,000 entries. Fingers crossed for next year!
