15 Jun Wild Things trip to Bristol
What a wonderful trip Wild Things had in Bristol! Their adventure began with a walk along St Mark’s Road to the Mosque. This was a real sensory experience as they took in the sights, sounds, and smells of the many local shops and cuisines. They received a very warm welcome at Easton Jamia Masjid, where the Imam taught them about the Five Pillars of Islam and other aspects of the Muslim faith and practice. He showed them around the Mosque and answered the children’s enthusiastic questions.
From the Mosque, they travelled across Bristol to the M Shed and Harbourside. Here, they explored the docks and linked what they could see to their Geography learning about rivers, trade, and transport. A particular highlight was seeing a working steam train, which brought the history of Bristol’s docks to life. There were plenty of fun, interactive, and thought-provoking exhibits to discover, and the children thoroughly enjoyed investigating Bristol’s past and present. Throughout the day, the children were a credit to our school. Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and enthusiasm for learning made the visit a joy. Seeing children make connections between their classroom learning and the real world is one of the reasons we enjoy teaching so much.
