10 Nov Trowbridge Museum @ NSP
On Friday Trowbridge Museum visited Norton St Philip. Gruffalo Class took part in a variety of activities enabling them to look at and explore a variety of old toys and games. They loved playing Bagatelle and they each made a thaumatrope or ‘wonder turner’ and were excited to see how the separate bird and cage came together. The children really enjoyed thinking about the past and how things have changed and it was great to see them all so engaged with the activities and artefacts and taking such care of the old items.
Elmer Class enjoyed an interactive role play experience about the Great Fire of London and even got to act as some of the characters. We found out about the events of the fire and why the houses burned down so easily. Then we got mapping and explored London, working out which direction the fire blew in and the impact on the city. We saw a range of artefacts and got to try on some costumes of the era and particularly loved writing with feather quills, just like Samuel Peyps did in his diary!
