23 Jun Creative Up-Cycling with ‘Everyone Needs Pockets’
This week, we were thrilled to welcome a visit from the inspiring team at Everyone Needs Pockets, who led an exciting and hands-on up-cycling workshop for our pupils. The children learned about the importance of sustainability in fashion and how old clothes can be transformed into something new and unique.
During the workshop, pupils were introduced to basic weaving techniques and then invited to reinvent an old T-shirt. Some chose to sew on colourful buttons or extra fabric, others used fabric pens to create bold and imaginative designs. A few even turned oversized T-shirts into stylish crop tops, complete with frayed and plaited edges!
At NSP, the children made capes by tearing up large, scrap pieces of fabric and then weaved tie fastening and decorated the capes with fabric pens. They were then embellished with scraps of fabric to add their own individual touch.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, showing great creativity and enthusiasm throughout. We can’t wait to see their fantastic creations on display at the upcoming Trashion Show!
