21 Jul Rode and Norton St Philip Big Day Out
Last Friday, pupils and staff from both Rode and Norton St Philip schools came together for a wonderful celebration to mark the end of our Fitness and Wellbeing Week – and what a day it was!
The day began with a scenic whole-school walk from Norton, winding along a peaceful bridle path and through beautiful fields. Spirits were high as we made our way to a tranquil stream, where we took a well-deserved break to rest, rehydrate, and enjoy a healthy snack surrounded by nature.
After our refreshing stop, we made our way back to Norton St Philip School in our House groups – Green Parrots, Blue Peacocks, Yellow Canaries, and Red Robins. Once back, everyone had a chance to cool off indoors and enjoy their lunch together.
Later in the afternoon, the fun continued on The Mead, where the whole school gathered again for two exciting games of rounders. The matches saw Green Parrots take on Yellow Canaries, and Red Robins face off against Blue Peacocks. Congratulations to Green Parrots and Red Robins for their impressive wins – fantastic teamwork all round!
To top off a brilliant day, an ice cream van made a surprise appearance! Every child was treated to a delicious ice cream or ice lolly – the perfect way to cool down after an action-packed afternoon. A huge thank you to FRANS for generously funding this treat – it was very much appreciated by everyone.
Despite the soaring temperatures, the children were absolutely amazing throughout the day. Their energy, enthusiasm, and behaviour were a credit to the school. A fabulous day was had by all, full of smiles, sunshine, and a true sense of community.
