09 Mar Into the Woods We Go! – Arts Week
What an amazing Arts Week we have had across our federation! The children have had an opportunity to try out new experiences and discover unknown talents. Ending our week with the whole school dressing up fairytale costume.
In Gruffalo Class we have loved exploring The Three Billy Goats Gruff through the arts. We used dance and movement to retell the story, sculpted our own clay trolls, and we even wrote our own song!
In Elmer Class our chosen story was Jack and the Beanstalk. We retold the story through dance and created freeze frames during our drama session to bring key moments to life.
In Paddington Class – We began by exploring the book Inside the Villains by Clotilde Perrin, where we met the Big Bad Wolf. The children discussed what makes him such a villain and thought about his character.
Wild Things class became authors, writing the ending of what could have happened next in the book ‘Little Red’. They sketched the wolf and then created wolves out of wire.
BFG have been exploring ‘witches’ this week and trying to decide on ‘Which Witch is Worse? The children have used their creative skills to charcoal, line draw, dance, bake, drum, persuade, design, build, and describe the 3 witches from Hansel & Gretel, Baba Yaga, and Rapunzel.
“Arts week was fun, creative and inspiring, I wish it would last forever. My favourite bit was the acting in the hall”. Kaira.
