Gruffalo and Elmer Class children will spend the morning at Rode School with their class teachers and support staff enjoying church led Shrove Tuesday celebrations. Please could parents and carers of Gruffalo and Elmer Class children ‘drop off’ at Rode School Hall at 8.50am, please use the side gate entrance. If parents/carers are unable to ‘drop off’ at Rode please contact me for alternative transport arrangements.
There are no changes to bookings for Breakfast Club at Rode, which will operate as normal.
If your child normally catches the 8.15am minibus from Rode to Norton St Philip Mrs Fabre will be at Rode to supervise your child from 8.15am. Please use the Office entrance.
The 8am and 8.30am minibuses will be running as normal from Norton St Philip, there are a few spare seats to accommodate younger siblings but these MUST be booked in advance.
Gruffalo and Elmer Classes will return to Norton St Philip at 12noon either on a 49 seater coach or in the school minibus.
We will be celebrating stories and books on World Book Day, Thursday March 5th. We will not be asking children to dress up as that is something we will be doing on our ‘Tales and Teeth Exhibition’ days later in the term.
Instead we are asking children and adults to bring in books that they have enjoyed but no longer need for our ‘Big Bookshop Bookswap’. This fits with our message of reusing and recycling, sharing and not wasting. Children /adults may bring in as many books as they like but they must be in excellent condition. Please don’t use this as a chance to get rid of your rubbish! We are giving the message that we value and cherish books and reading. At school the children will write a little ‘blurb’ to explain why someone else should read their book.
In the afternoon, at both sites, we will set up a bookshop and every child will have a chance to choose a book. Additional books can be purchased for 50p. Norton Bookshop will be open until 3.45pm, Rode Bookshop will close at 4.30pm. This is a great opportunity for parents and staff to also pick up some bargains.
